UNSPSC 24141516: Dessicant

Moisture absorbing media in various forms

UNSPSC 24141516 Desiccant is a Commodity code that, based on recent state and local solicitation activity, shows little activity aligned with its nominal scope. The two most recent opportunities tagged under this code—a miscellaneous warehouse supplies procurement from Northside Independent School District (NISD) in San Antonio, Texas, and a city-wide printing and mailing services RFP from the City of Madison, Wisconsin—do not reflect desiccant products. The warehouse supplies notice is generic and does not specify desiccant as a line item; the printing and mailing services procurement concerns document production and mail finishing, entirely outside the desiccant product family. When recent state and local opportunities under a code diverge sharply from its abstract name, the code signals either poor tag alignment in source systems or minimal genuine procurement activity for the commodity itself.

No recent state and local contract opportunities for desiccant products proper appear in the available record. Business development professionals should verify whether desiccant demand exists within their target jurisdictions through direct outreach to facilities and maintenance departments, particularly in school districts, counties, and municipal storage operations where moisture control and product preservation are relevant, rather than relying on this code's recent notice stream. The geographic spread of the tagged opportunities—Texas and Wisconsin—does not indicate desiccant procurement concentration and should not be treated as representative.
