UNSPSC 24101638: Wire rope sling

These slings are made up of tightly woven metallic wire ropes

UNSPSC 24101638 Wire rope sling is a Commodity code, but the recent state and local opportunities posted under it bear no meaningful connection to wire rope slings or related rigging equipment. The City of Dallas posted an RFQ on June 2, 2026 for electronic items for IT — computer hardware and peripherals — with a response deadline of June 8, 2026. The School Board of Sarasota County, Florida issued an IFB on February 12, 2026 (ITB #26-0158) for safety and security systems services, parts, and consumables, including security alarm and access control installation, maintenance, and repair across 52 school and department locations, with bids due March 10, 2026. Neither opportunity involves wire rope slings or lifting and rigging hardware.

The code shows no relevant recent activity. State and local procurement databases sometimes tag opportunities with UNSPSC codes that do not align with the work actually being solicited, and that appears to be the case here. Business development professionals pursuing lifting and rigging products and services should monitor separate code families within the equipment and supplies taxonomy rather than expect wire rope sling opportunities to surface consistently under this Commodity classification.
