UNSPSC 23153141: Electro discharge machine EDM wire

Attachment used in a wire electro discharge machine EDM. Removes metal by burning the work piece with a very thin wire instead of cutting or grinding. One of three basic types of EDM. The other two are electrode EDM and small-hole EDM.

UNSPSC 23153141 Electro discharge machine EDM wire (Commodity) does not align with the state and local opportunities posted under this code. The two recent solicitations—a Sourcewell cooperative law enforcement equipment RFP and a University of Wisconsin Stevens Point paper machine stock tank upgrade IFB—contain no reference to EDM wire, precision machining consumables, or related manufacturing inputs. The code shows little relevant recent activity in state and local procurement, and the posted opportunities appear to be mislabeled under this Commodity code.

Without substantive recent solicitations tied to actual EDM wire procurement, the geographic concentration, issuing-body mix, and market activity for this code cannot be characterized from the available source material. Firms evaluating pursuit decisions under UNSPSC 23153141 should verify whether state and local procurement activity for EDM wire exists outside these posted records or whether the code designation itself requires clarification with the relevant procurement offices.
