UNSPSC 20141705: Floating offshore tension leg storage platforms

UNSPSC 20141705 Floating offshore tension leg storage platforms is a Commodity code that shows a significant mismatch between its nominal scope and current state and local procurement activity. The single recent opportunity in the available record is a Sourcewell cooperative purchasing RFP for law enforcement equipment — a product category wholly unrelated to offshore petroleum infrastructure or marine engineering platforms. State and local governments do not appear to be soliciting floating offshore tension leg storage platforms under this code at present.

The law enforcement equipment RFP (#061626), posted by Sourcewell on behalf of participating Washington and Minnesota counties and a nationwide network of public entities, closed June 16, 2026, and was administered through Sourcewell's cooperative purchasing framework rather than through a single issuing body. This mismatch suggests either a coding error in the state and local procurement database or minimal actual market activity for the platform type itself in state and local contracting. Firms evaluating this Commodity code should verify whether the code designation reflects genuine offshore platform procurement demand or whether it is routinely applied to unrelated goods and services in the databases they monitor.
