UNSPSC 20122826: Power swivel or top drives

UNSPSC 20122826 Power swivel or top drives (Commodity) shows minimal relevant recent state and local procurement activity. A review of current opportunities reveals no active solicitations for power swivels, top drives, or related oilfield rotary equipment typical of this code's scope. The single recent opportunity tagged under this code—Sourcewell RFP #061626, posted May 12, 2026, with a June 16, 2026 response deadline—is a cooperative purchasing vehicle for law enforcement equipment, which falls outside the industrial drilling and well-servicing domain that defines the power swivel and top drive category. The mismatch between the code assignment and the actual scope of work suggests either a cataloging error or an incidental tagging artifact.

State and local procurement for oilfield equipment and drilling hardware typically emanates from upstream development authorities, county water and energy departments, or specialized drilling contractors rather than the generalized cooperative purchasing entities visible in current notices. The absence of active opportunities under this code indicates either dormant demand among state and local buyers for this specific class of equipment or a narrow addressable market within the public-sector space. Firms pursuing work in rotary drilling auxiliaries and top-drive systems should monitor state department of natural resources, oil and gas regulatory boards, and county development authorities directly rather than rely on posted opportunities under this UNSPSC assignment.
