UNSPSC 20122701: Oil country casing

UNSPSC 20122701 Oil country casing is a Commodity code that in recent state and local solicitation activity maps poorly to its abstract taxonomy name. The two posted opportunities show minimal alignment with oil and gas extraction casing — the work actually being solicited under this code consists of refrigerant recovery and removal services (EPA-certified gas extraction from appliances) and law enforcement equipment procurement, neither of which relates to wellbore tubing or drilling infrastructure. The code's recent activity does not support a coherent scope of work or issuing-body profile aligned with oil country casing as traditionally defined in the drilling supply chain.

The City of Tucson Environmental and General Services Division posted RFP 240011 for Gas Extraction and Removal services in September 2026, with response due September 19, 2024 (note: posted date and due date are inconsistent in the source), seeking an EPA-certified refrigerant reclaimer to extract gases from approximately 50 units per week at the Los Reales Sustainability Campus with contract renewals up to four years. Sourcewell, on behalf of multiple Washington counties and participating entities across the United States and Canada, issued RFP 061626 for Law Enforcement Equipment with response due June 16, 2026. Given the mismatch between the code's nominal scope and these two posted opportunities, UNSPSC 20122701 shows little relevant recent activity for oil country casing procurement at the state and local level.
