UNSPSC 12181504: Petrolatums

UNSPSC 12181504 Petrolatums is a Commodity code covering petroleum jelly and related semi-solid hydrocarbon products that state and local governments procure for maintenance, lubrication, and protective applications across facilities and equipment operations. The code encompasses products used in mechanics' shops, maintenance departments, fire and rescue operations, and field equipment servicing where water resistance, lubrication, and corrosion protection are required. Issuing bodies include state departments of transportation and public works, county maintenance operations, municipal public services departments, fire departments, and school district facilities management offices. Products procured include bulk petrolatums, multi-purpose lubricating jellies, and rust-preventive compounds in containers ranging from small tubes to larger industrial quantities.

The source provided contains no recent state or local contract opportunities tagged to UNSPSC 12181504, making it impossible to characterize geographic concentration, specific issuing-body repeat buyers, or representative recent solicitations. Without posted RFPs, RFQs, ITBs, or IFBs to ground the analysis, current procurement velocity and buyer preferences under this code remain unclear. Firms evaluating entry should monitor state and local procurement portals and cooperative purchasing schedules (such as NASPO ValuePoint or regional cooperative vehicles) where petrolatums are frequently bundled into broader maintenance supplies and janitorial product agreements.
