UNSPSC 11162003: Hessian or hemp or jute cloth

UNSPSC 11162003 Hessian or hemp or jute cloth is a Commodity code covering woven textiles used primarily in erosion control, soil stabilization, landscaping, and civil construction applications across state and local infrastructure projects. State and local governments procure these materials for stream bank reinforcement, slope protection, temporary dust control during construction, and landscape restoration work, typically as components of larger environmental remediation or construction contracts rather than as standalone fabric purchases. The issuing bodies span state departments of transportation and environmental quality, county public works and engineering offices, and municipalities managing stormwater infrastructure and park restoration.

The source provides no recent state and local contract opportunities under this code. Without posted RFPs, RFQs, IFBs, or ITBs to characterize current demand, geographic concentration, or issuing-body patterns, the code's recent procurement activity cannot be assessed. Firms evaluating pursuit should monitor state DOT and county engineering procurement channels for erosion-control fabric and soil-stabilization textile requests, which may appear under this code or adjacent UNSPSC categories, and confirm code assignment when opportunities emerge.
