UNSPSC 11161605: Carded wool

UNSPSC 11161605 Carded wool, a Commodity code, addresses the procurement of processed wool fibers prepared for spinning or felting — a raw material input that state and local governments source for textile manufacturing, apparel production, or facility maintenance applications. The code nominally covers wool that has been carded (combed and aligned) but not yet spun into yarn or thread, representing an intermediate stage in wool textile production. State and local buying under this code typically involves corrections departments acquiring wool blankets or similar finished goods, public works operations sourcing wool felt for insulation or weatherproofing, or educational institutions purchasing wool materials for vocational textile training programs. Issuing bodies range across state departments, county facilities management offices, and school districts, though the specific mix of buyers and their procurement frequency under this commodity remain sparse in recent market activity.

The source provides no recent state or local contract opportunities tagged to UNSPSC 11161605. Without current solicitation records, the geographic distribution, issuing-body concentration, and representative RFP, RFQ, IFB, or ITB activity cannot be characterized. The code shows little actionable recent procurement activity in the state and local marketplace.
