UNSPSC 10224900: Live maracas

Live plants including the root ball of maracas

UNSPSC 10224900 Live maracas is a Class code that shows no meaningful alignment with recent state and local procurement activity. The code nominally covers percussion instruments, but the five recent opportunities posted under this classification—DeKalb County's tennis center IT and low-voltage infrastructure reconstruction, Pasco County's Ridge Road landscaping and irrigation installation, Collier County's coastal dune planting restoration, Pinellas County's environmental planting and wetland monitoring services, and Dallas's general plant procurement—concern site construction, landscape installation, native plant restoration, and environmental remediation work. None of these solicitations involve musical instruments or percussion products of any kind.

The mismatch between the code's nominal scope and actual buying activity suggests either systematic miscoding at the issuing jurisdictions or that UNSPSC 10224900 has been repurposed outside its intended taxonomy tier. The recent opportunities span Florida counties (DeKalb, Pasco, Collier, and Pinellas) and the City of Dallas, with work spanning infrastructure installation, landscape design-build, and environmental restoration contracting. Without solicitations actually purchasing maracas or related percussion items, the code offers no reliable signal for business development targeting state and local procurement under its stated commodity definition.
