UNSPSC 10161615: Balsam or impatiens balsamina plant

Plant from the balsaminaceae family. Its axillary flowers are diversely colored, frequently red or white.

UNSPSC 10161615 Balsam or impatiens balsamina plant is a Commodity code for ornamental flowering plants used in landscape construction and grounds maintenance by state and local jurisdictions. Recent solicitations show state and local governments purchasing balsam and impatiens plants as part of broader landscape and irrigation projects, particularly for median plantings, municipal grounds beautification, and routine grounds-maintenance supply contracts. The code attracts bids from landscaping contractors, nurseries, and landscape supply vendors serving county and municipal purchasing offices.

State and local activity under the code is concentrated in Florida, where the Pasco County Board of County Commissioners solicited landscape and irrigation construction for Little Road medians (ITB IFBKM27004, response due October 6, 2026) and the City of Altamonte Springs issued an ITB for nursery plants and products on an as-needed basis (ITB26085KY, response due July 29, 2026). The Altamonte Springs contract specifies multiple plant groups including plugs, trees, and potted plants, with contract terms spanning one year with four renewal options; bidders must meet Florida Sunbiz registration, liability insurance ($1,000,000 minimum), and state eligibility verification requirements. No set-asides or preference programs are stated in the recent opportunities.
