UNSPSC 10151811: Ginseng roots or seedlings

UNSPSC 10151811 Ginseng roots or seedlings is a Commodity code that shows no relevant recent state and local procurement activity. The Texas Department of Criminal Justice has posted multiple recent solicitations nominally tagged to this code — green bean seeds (IFB IW251789, due June 18, 2026), fall edible crop seeds (IFB IW252545, due June 9, 2026), and spring seeds (IFB IW239915, due January 22, 2026) — but these are vegetable and field-crop seeds for institutional food production at correctional facilities, not ginseng roots or seedlings. A fourth opportunity from DeKalb County, Georgia, concerning IT and low-voltage infrastructure reconstruction at a tennis center, is similarly unrelated to the code's nominal scope.

The mismatch between the code's name and the actual commodities being procured suggests either classification error in the state procurement systems or that ginseng is not a current state and local procurement category with meaningful activity. The TDCJ represents the only repeat issuing body in the recent record, and its seed procurement appears to center on vegetable crops for farm and food-service operations rather than specialty horticultural products. Until state and local procurement offices begin soliciting ginseng roots or seedlings under this code, activity under 10151811 remains absent from the visible market.
