UNSPSC 10151517: Spinach seeds or seedlings

UNSPSC 10151517 Spinach seeds or seedlings is a Commodity code that covers the procurement of vegetable seeds, including spinach, green beans, and other fall edible crop varieties used to support institutional operations. State and local governments buying under this code are primarily correctional facilities and agricultural support programs within state departments. The Texas Department of Criminal Justice appears as a repeat buyer, issuing multiple solicitations for edible crop seeds to support prison farm and food service operations. Solicitations are issued as Invitations for Bid (IFB) and request bids for specific seed varieties with submission through electronic procurement portals; vendors must register on third-party platforms such as Bonfire Hub and Euna Procurement to participate.

Recent activity is concentrated in Texas, with the Texas Department of Criminal Justice posting multiple seed-procurement opportunities in May and June 2026. Representative solicitations include TDCJ's IFB IW252545 for fall vegetable seed crop, due June 9, 2026, and IFB IW251789 for green bean seeds, due June 18, 2026. Both solicitations required electronic submission through the TDCJ Procurement Portal via Bonfire Hub, with procurement inquiries directed to TDCJ personnel (Carolyn Dahlen or Catherine Cain). The source does not specify estimated contract values, quantities, delivery schedules, contract terms, or set-aside designations for any of the opportunities.
