NIGP 94968: Scholarships, Post Doctoral

NIGP 94968 Scholarships, Post Doctoral is an Item code under which state and local governments fund advanced academic awards for doctoral-level graduates pursuing further specialized study or research. The code captures direct financial assistance to post-doctoral scholars and fellows, typically administered by state universities, research institutions, and higher-education agencies as part of workforce development, research advancement, and talent-retention initiatives. Issuing bodies include state university systems, state education departments, and public research centers that manage competitive scholarship or fellowship programs at the post-doctoral level. The scope reflects tuition support, stipends, and research grants designed to keep advanced researchers within state institutions or affiliated organizations rather than allowing them to migrate to private industry or out-of-state venues.

No recent state and local contract opportunities appear in the available source material for this code. This reflects the nature of post-doctoral scholarship administration — most funding flows through internal institutional budget cycles, state appropriations, and federal pass-through mechanisms rather than competitive procurement solicitations. Firms pursuing this code should monitor state university system RFPs for research-administration and grant-management services that bundle post-doctoral fellowship programs, and watch for state workforce-development agencies issuing RFPs to manage scholarship platforms or student-information systems supporting post-doctoral award distribution.
