NIGP 94585 Trawling Services, an Item code, covers commercial fishing operations using trawl nets to harvest marine resources on behalf of state and local government entities. State and local governments purchase trawling services primarily for fisheries management, stock assessment, research, and environmental monitoring rather than for commercial resale. The work includes deploying and operating trawl equipment to collect biological samples, survey population density and species composition, monitor ecosystem health, and support regulatory compliance. Issuing bodies for this code typically include state fish and wildlife departments, environmental agencies, and marine resource commissions that manage coastal and inland fisheries. Some purchases support academic research partnerships through university marine science programs and cooperative regional fisheries initiatives.
