NIGP 80412: Altitude Control Systems, Spacecraft

NIGP 80412 Altitude Control Systems, Spacecraft (Item) covers propulsion, guidance, and stabilization equipment for orbital and space-based platforms procured by state and local governments. The code sees minimal activity in state and local procurement channels; no recent opportunities appear in the available record. This reflects the specialized, capital-intensive nature of spacecraft systems procurement, which typically routes through federal aerospace agencies, prime contractors, and specialized research institutions rather than traditional state or local purchasing offices. State and local governments occasionally participate in space-related procurement through university research programs, regional aerospace initiatives, or partnerships with federal entities, but direct solicitation of altitude control systems under this NIGP code does not appear in current market activity.

Without recent opportunities to characterize, geographic concentration and representative issuing-body patterns cannot be established from current data. Firms pursuing this code should monitor solicitations from state higher-education systems with aerospace engineering or space research programs, state economic-development agencies supporting aerospace clusters, and regional entities partnering with federal space initiatives, though such activity remains sparse relative to other NIGP categories.
