NIGP 63506: Can Opener, Paint (Pneumatic)

NIGP 63506 Can Opener, Paint (Pneumatic) is an Item code describing pneumatic paint-opening equipment that state and local governments procure as part of facility maintenance and building preparation work. The recent opportunity block shows a single posting — the Community Development Authority of the City of Madison, Wisconsin soliciting bids on the Karabis Apartments Painting and Siding Project under RFB #15051-0-2026-AH — which encompasses exterior surface preparation, painting, caulking, gutter and downspout installation, soffit and fascia replacement, cleanup, and disposal. This project illustrates how the code fits within broader building-maintenance and renovation scopes rather than as a standalone item purchase; the pneumatic paint opener is an incidental tool within a comprehensive exterior restoration contract subject to Davis-Bacon Act prevailing-wage requirements.

The issuing body is a municipal housing authority (Madison's Community Development Authority) within a single Midwest jurisdiction. The Karabis Apartments opportunity was posted June 29, 2026, with a bid due date of July 17, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. CST, requiring lump-sum submission with proof of insurance, project references, product specifications, and subcontractor lists. Contractors must carry not less than $1,000,000 in commercial general liability insurance per occurrence and $1,000,000 combined single limit automobile liability. The contract term does not exceed two months absent written approval. The recent-opportunities block contains a single posting; activity under this Item code appears limited.
