NIGP 50595: Waxes and Cleaners (for Ironers, Presses, etc.)

NIGP 50595 Waxes And Cleaners (For Ironers, Presses, Etc.), an Item code, covers specialized cleaning and conditioning products used to maintain pressing equipment and related machinery in laundry, textile, and industrial settings. State and local governments procure these products primarily for institutional laundry operations, correctional facilities, state hospitals and mental-health institutions, and school district laundry services. The code captures both chemical waxes that condition press platens and roller surfaces to prevent sticking and adhesion, and dedicated cleaning agents formulated to remove starch residue, mineral deposits, and accumulated soil from ironing and pressing machinery without damaging the equipment.

The source provided contains no recent state or local solicitation activity under this Item code, limiting visibility into current issuing-body mix, geographic concentration, or representative buying patterns. Given the narrow application scope — specialized maintenance supplies for institutional laundry infrastructure — procurement activity under NIGP 50595 may be distributed across a small number of recurring buyers in facilities management and laundry operations, typically executed through standing orders or cooperative purchasing agreements rather than formal solicitation cycles. Firms evaluating this code should monitor state department of corrections procurement offices, state hospital and health-care facilities management divisions, and large school districts with in-house laundry operations as primary targets, while recognizing that activity may cluster in cycles tied to equipment maintenance schedules and budget cycles rather than continuous or transparent solicitation visibility.
