NIGP 49358: Polarimeters

NIGP 49358 Polarimeters, an Item code, does not match the recent state and local procurement activity captured in the source. The County of Santa Clara posted a Request for Information on April 7, 2026 (response due April 22, 2026) for a Public Health Lab Information Management Solution Replacement — a lab information management system (LIMS) procurement that falls outside the scope of optical polarimetry instrumentation. State and local governments use NIGP 49358 to procure polarimeters and related analytical instruments for laboratory testing and quality control; the Santa Clara solicitation instead targets software and systems integration services for laboratory workflow management.

No recent state and local opportunities soliciting polarimeters as defined under NIGP 49358 appear in the source material. The single captured opportunity reflects a category-taxonomy mismatch rather than current market activity in optical measurement equipment. Firms evaluating pursuit decisions under this code should verify recent RFP and RFQ activity through direct state purchasing office channels, cooperative purchasing vehicle catalogs, and industry-specific laboratory equipment supplier networks, as the available records do not support a current assessment of polarimeter procurement volume or issuing-body concentration by jurisdiction.
