NIGP 44060: Pyrex Glass

NIGP 44060 Pyrex Glass, an Item code, covers heat-resistant borosilicate glass products and laboratory glassware that state and local governments procure for scientific research, educational demonstration, medical testing, and industrial applications. The code captures demand for Pyrex-branded and equivalent borosilicate glass containers, beakers, flasks, graduated cylinders, test tubes, petri dishes, and related laboratory apparatus used in schools, hospitals, public health laboratories, and municipal utilities. State and local buyers source these goods through direct purchase, cooperative contracts, and bulk orders to supply ongoing operations in science departments, clinical labs, water-quality testing facilities, and emergency-response equipment caches.

Recent state and local opportunities under this code are not present in the available source material, making it difficult to characterize current issuing-body composition, geographic concentration, or active solicitation patterns. Procurement activity under NIGP 44060 appears episodic rather than continuous, driven by laboratory refreshes, curriculum updates, or regulatory compliance cycles rather than standing demand signals. Firms pursuing this code should monitor science-serving procurement channels — school district and community college RFPs for lab equipment, public health agency purchases, and utility system supply contracts — rather than expect sustained or concentrated solicitation activity.
