NIGP 43690: Whirlpool Additives, Antimicrobial, Environmentally Certified Products

NIGP 43690 Whirlpool Additives, Antimicrobial, Environmentally Certified Products is an Item code under which state and local governments procure chemical treatment agents for whirlpool and hydrotherapy equipment, typically in health care and recreational facility settings. The code covers additives formulated to prevent microbial growth, reduce biofilm formation, and maintain water quality in warm-water therapeutic systems while meeting environmental certification standards such as EPA approval or Green Seal designation. State and local buyers under this code include county and municipal health departments, public hospital systems, community colleges with athletic or physical therapy programs, and parks and recreation departments operating public aquatic facilities. These buyers source the additives through routine maintenance and capital-equipment procurement processes, often bundling chemical supplies with equipment service contracts or facility operations agreements.
