NIGP 31890: Turnstiles

NIGP 31890 Turnstiles is an Item code covering the purchase, installation, and customization of access-control turnstile equipment at state and local facilities. Recent solicitations show state and local governments buying optical turnstile systems for campus recreation access control, fare-gate equipment for transit stations, and specialized anti-jump safety components for existing turnstile infrastructure. The issuing bodies soliciting under this code span higher education institutions, transit authorities, and universities purchasing for campus facilities management.

Activity appears across multiple states and institution types, with recent opportunities posted by Georgia Institute of Technology (RFQ for Alvarado SU5000 optical turnstiles at the Campus Recreation Center in Atlanta, due May 29, 2026), the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey (IFB for design, fabrication, and delivery of fare-gate anti-jump panels for PATH station turnstiles, due June 22, 2026), and Mississippi State University (sealed-bid solicitation with submission deadline September 9, 2026, though specific scope details are not disclosed in the available excerpt). The mix reflects both education and transportation sectors pursuing turnstile capital equipment and component replacements.
