NIGP 25754: Missiles, Antimissile (Guided)

NIGP 25754 Missiles, Antimissile (Guided), an Item code, covers guided air defense and anti-missile systems acquired by state and local government buyers. State and local procurement under this code appears dormant; no recent state or local contract opportunities soliciting guided antimissile systems are present in the available record. This Item sits at the intersection of federal defense procurement and specialized weaponry procurement, which state and local agencies rarely undertake outside of narrow military or homeland-defense contexts.

The scarcity of activity under this code reflects the nature of the commodity itself: guided antimissile systems fall outside the routine procurement needs of state departments, county governments, municipalities, school districts, transit authorities, and special-purpose districts that dominate state and local purchasing. Buyers seeking air defense or missile-interception capability would typically operate through federal or military procurement channels rather than state and local RFP, RFQ, IFB, or ITB processes. Firms positioned in defense or aerospace should monitor federal contracting vehicles and military service branch solicitations rather than state and local procurement channels for opportunities in this domain.
