NIGP 12072: Positioning Systems, Global (Marine)

NIGP 12072 Positioning Systems, Global (Marine) is an Item code under which state and local governments procure marine navigation and positioning equipment for law enforcement, patrol, and operational use. Recent solicitations show demand for GPS-enabled marine systems as part of broader law enforcement equipment portfolios and standalone marine patrol vessel outfitting. Issuing bodies include county governments and state-level cooperative purchasing vehicles; Sourcewell, a Minnesota-based local government unit and service cooperative, recently posted a large-scale RFP for law enforcement equipment (including positioning systems) on behalf of its Participating Entities across multiple states and Canada, while Chatham County, Georgia independently solicited marine patrol equipment through direct county procurement channels.

Sourcewell's RFP #061626, posted May 12, 2026 with a June 16, 2026 response deadline, establishes a contracting solution for law enforcement equipment available to governmental agencies, higher education institutions, school districts, nonprofits, tribal governments, and public entities across the United States and Canada, with participation from Franklin County, Grant County, Grays Harbor County, Chelan County, and Yakima County in Washington state. Chatham County, Georgia issued IFB 26-0038-4, posted March 24, 2026 with a May 4, 2026 bid due date, for two new Mercury outboard motors designated for marine patrol operations. Both solicitations were submitted through vendor portals (Sourcewell Procurement Portal and Chatham County's Bonfire portal, respectively), with no set-aside designations or budget ranges disclosed in available materials. Geographic activity spans the Pacific Northwest through Washington state counties and the Southeast through Georgia coastal counties.
