NIGP 11590: Stains, Prepared

NIGP 11590 Stains, Prepared is an Item code under which state and local governments procure ready-mixed wood stains, finishes, and related colorants for building maintenance, restoration, and construction projects. The code captures interior and exterior staining applications in facilities management, including school buildings, courthouses, transit infrastructure, and municipal properties where wood surfaces require finishing or refinishing. Issuing bodies across the state and local spectrum — state departments of transportation and general services, county public works offices, city maintenance and facilities divisions, and independent school districts — solicit stains through small RFQs and IFBs for routine maintenance cycles and larger renovation initiatives.

No recent state and local solicitations under NIGP 11590 appear in the available opportunities data. Activity under this code remains light, reflecting the nature of prepared stains as a commodity line typically bundled into larger maintenance, construction, or janitorial supply RFQs rather than solicited as standalone line items. Procurement professionals tracking this code should monitor facilities-management and building-services RFPs from state departments of facilities and school district maintenance departments, where stain purchases surface as minor components of broader maintenance contracts rather than as dedicated procurements.
