NIGP 04088: Reptiles, Live

NIGP 04088 Reptiles, Live is an Item code that state and local governments procure for zoo operations, educational institutions, and animal welfare facilities. The code covers the acquisition of live reptiles including snakes, lizards, turtles, and amphibians for display, breeding programs, research, and public education. Procurement under this code comes from county and municipal zoo departments, school districts with science curricula, natural history museums, and wildlife rehabilitation centers. The specific scope reflects the regulatory and husbandry requirements governing live-animal acquisition — suppliers must meet health certifications, legal permitting for species, and transport standards.

No recent state and local contract opportunities are currently posted under this code. The only recent activity in the source is an administrative notice from Williamson County Purchasing Department announcing a relocation to a new office address in Georgetown, Texas, which does not constitute a procurement solicitation. Absence of posted opportunities under this Item code suggests either low procurement velocity, infrequent buying cycles tied to facility expansion or animal management needs, or consolidation of reptile acquisition through existing vendor relationships or blanket agreements that do not generate new RFPs or RFQs.
