NIGP 01973: Soybeans

NIGP 01973 Soybeans, an Item code, does not appear in recent state and local procurement activity tracked in the available opportunities block. School districts soliciting food supplies for nutrition programs — including Butts County School System and Douglas County School System in Georgia — are procuring fresh produce, eggs, and general food supplies through RFPs and IFBs, but no recent opportunities specifically name soybeans or soybean-based products as line items. The code may see activity through agricultural commodity purchases by state departments or food service cooperatives, but no such solicitations are present in the current data.

School nutrition programs remain active buyers of commodity foods on multi-year contracts with options for renewal, typically through cooperative purchasing vehicles and individual district RFPs. The Douglas County School System's RFP through the GEC Buying Cooperative, due March 4, 2026, encompasses approximately $5.5 million in estimated annual spending across produce and eggs for 30 school districts across two Georgia areas on a line-item award basis, while Butts County School System issued an IFB for general food supplies to six school sites for the 2026–2027 school year with a May 26, 2026 bid deadline. Neither opportunity lists soybeans as a specified commodity, and no geographic concentration or repeat issuing bodies soliciting soybean products are evident from the available recent opportunities.
