Added: Aug 01, 2012 10:42 am This is a combined synopsis/solicitation for commercial items prepared in accordance with the format in FAR Subpart 12.6, as supplemented with additional information included in this notice. This announcement constitutes the only solicitation; quotes are being requested and a written solicitation will not be issued. Solicitation No. AG-6125-S-12-0003 is being issued as a Request for Quotes (RFQ). This solicitation document and incorporated provisions and clauses are those in effect tough Federal Acquisition Circular 2005-60. The NAICS code (2007) applicable to this acquisition is 325191. For a company to qualify as a small business, the small business standard is 500 employees or less. The USDA, ARS, National Laboratory for Agriculture and the Environment (NLAE) has a requirement/need for a contractor to provide fifty (50) tons of Hardwood Charcoal at their Agricultural Engineering & Agronomy Research Farm. The details and specifications for the hardwood charcoal are as follows: (a) Produced by gasification with peak process temperatures between 500 degrees and 575 degrees Celsius; (b) Particle Size: Some should pass a ¼" screen, most pass a ½" screen, and all pass a 1" screen; (c) Equal 80% Carbon (dry weight basis); (d) Equal 10% Ash (dry weight basis); (e) Packaged and delivered in 1000lb super sacks (no bulk delivery or small sacks); DESCRIPTIVE LITERATURE: Offerors shall submit 2 copies of the descriptive literature (with pictures) describing their proposed product with enough detail to ascertain whether the product meets the criteria listed above.DOCUMENTS TO BE INCLUDED IN QUOTE: In order to be considered for award Offerors shall provide 1) a Quote on company letterhead detailing the item description, and unit price per item and total price; 2) at least 3 to 5 references. (Government references preferred but will accept commercial references).
