Star trainer services

The Arizona Department of Education has awarded a contract (CTR075056) to Jennifer L. Shaffer for STAR (Student Achievement in Reading) training services. The contract, valued at $8,200, covers 120 hours of work at $62.50 per hour through June 30, 2025, with an additional $700 allocated for travel expenses related to program classroom observations. Shaffer will serve as a STAR trainer, supporting the implementation of adult education reading instruction programs by planning and facilitating training series for new cohorts.

The contractor's responsibilities include developing and delivering training series, conducting classroom observations, providing technical assistance, and maintaining communication with assigned adult education programs. As part of a team of four certified STAR trainers, Shaffer will help refresh and coach continuing providers and previously trained adult teachers. The noncompetitive contract is part of a broader five-year initiative with a total estimated cost of $180,000, focusing on enhancing reading instruction techniques for adult education teachers across Arizona.
