The Defense Information Systems Agency awarded a single award indefinite delivery contract to Lumen Technologies Government Solutions, Inc. to provide operations and maintenance services in support of the agency's information technology and network infrastructure programs. The potential value of the contract vehicle is $196 million with a period of performance from October 2021 through September 2028. Delivery orders have been issued against this contract for technical refresh services to LINK 32 and LINK 18A tactical data link networks totaling $21 million and $341,000 respectively, as well as for fiber installation and reconfiguration of LINK 22A valued at $2.5 million. Additionally, a $118 million delivery order was awarded for continued operations and maintenance services to be performed in Herndon, Virginia through September 2028. As the prime contractor and owner of the infrastructure, Lumen Technologies Government Solutions, Inc. is uniquely positioned to provide the required technical knowledge and physical access to maintain this critical network that supports Department of Defense communications systems.
The originating opportunity notice indicated the Defense Information Systems Agency's intent to negotiate a follow-on sole source contract with CenturyLink, now Lumen Technologies Government Solutions, Inc., for operation and maintenance of over 25,000 route miles of contractor-owned dark fiber and commercial facilities acquired via a prior 25-year capital lease. As the infrastructure owner, Lumen Technologies Government Solutions, Inc. is considered the only source capable of meeting the technical and security requirements for continued management of this network essential to military communications. The contract aims to ensure high operational availability and information assurance of this infrastructure through technology upgrades, reconfigurations and maintenance activities performed in accordance with Defense Information Systems Network guidelines.
