The Department of the Air Force Materiel Command Research Laboratory awarded a single award, indefinite delivery contract to Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC) for the Weapon Engagement Simulation Technology for Advanced Research (WESTAR) program. The $99 million contract has a period of performance through November 2026 and does not utilize a set-aside designation.
As the prime contractor, SAIC will provide a range of research and development services to support the Air Force's efforts in areas such as multi-spectral and multi-modal phenomenology modeling, hardware-in-the-loop simulation technology, and development of advanced munitions. Key tasks include modeling, simulation, and analysis; guidance and control engineering for hypersonic systems; development of targeting and sensing capabilities; and virtual/constructive simulation for test and evaluation. SAIC will leverage its broad technical expertise and partner with small businesses and specialized subcontractors to deliver these products and services at Eglin Air Force Base, Herndon, Virginia, and other locations.
