The Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) awarded a $1,266,415 Project Grant under the Teaching Health Center Graduate Medical Education (THCGME) Payment Program to Careconnect Health, Inc. (CCH), a federally qualified community health center. The funding supports the establishment of the CCH Family Medicine Residency Program, which began training residents in July 2024. The program aims to expand the primary care workforce and improve access to care in the rural, underserved Cordele, Georgia community. Over the 5-year project period, the grant will fund 12 resident FTE positions (4-4-4) above CCH's baseline, with 1 resident FTE (1-0-0) supported in the first year. The primary training site is CCH's location in Cordele, with additional rotations at Crisp Regional Hospital and other affiliated ambulatory care sites serving the local population.
