Fit but not forgotten (fbnf) and military to the mountain (M2M) veteran fitness classes and paralympic sport introduction - renewal application

Steamboat Adaptive Recreational Sports (STARS), a Colorado-based nonprofit, received a $202,388 Project Grant award effective September 30, 2025, through September 30, 2026, from the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Veterans Health Administration Under Secretary for Health under the VA Grants for Adaptive Sports Programs for Disabled Veterans and Disabled Members of the Armed Forces program (CFDA 64.034). The award supports two complementary initiatives: "Fit But Not Forgotten" (FBNF) veteran fitness classes and "Military to the Mountain" (M2M) adaptive sport programming combined with Paralympic sport introduction activities. These programs are designed to serve disabled veterans and members of the Armed Forces with disabilities through instruction, participation, and competition in adaptive sports activities.

Under this renewal award, STARS will deliver comprehensive adaptive sports programming including instruction and training in activities such as skiing, snowboarding, hiking, cycling, and water sports. The programs emphasize therapeutic and recreational benefits while fostering self-esteem, independence, and peer camaraderie among disabled service members. This represents STARS' fourth federal Project Grant from the VA Adaptive Sports program since 2021, building upon the organization's demonstrated capacity to manage large-scale adaptive sports initiatives and its established track record of serving disabled veterans across multiple regions.
