Access Mammoth, doing business as Disabled Sports Eastern Sierra, received a $168,385 Project Grant award from the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Veterans Health Administration under the VA Grants for Adaptive Sports Programs for Disabled Veterans and Disabled Members of the Armed Forces program (CFDA 64.034) on September 30, 2025, with a completion date of September 30, 2026. This woman-owned nonprofit organization, based in Mammoth Lakes, California, will utilize the funding to plan, develop, manage, and implement comprehensive adaptive sports programming for disabled veterans, service members, and individuals with disabilities in the Eastern Sierra region.

The grant supports year-round adaptive sports activities including skiing, snowboarding, hiking, kayaking, and mountain biking, along with essential programmatic components such as instruction, participation, competition, coaching, equipment provision, personnel costs, training, technical assistance, and participant scholarships. This award represents the organization's fifth consecutive prime grant from the VA Veterans Health Administration since 2021, demonstrating sustained federal investment in its adaptive sports delivery model. The organization has previously partnered with the Christopher Reeve Foundation as a sub-awardee to deliver specialized adaptive biking and skiing programs for individuals living with paralysis.
