Grant Award Summary

The Department of Veterans Affairs Veterans Health Administration, under the VA Grants for Adaptive Sports Programs for Disabled Veterans and Disabled Members of the Armed Forces (CFDA 64.034), awarded the Chicago Park District $283,896 on September 30, 2025, for a one-year period of performance concluding September 30, 2026. Under this Project Grant, the Chicago Park District will plan, develop, manage, and implement adaptive sports programming to serve disabled veterans and members of the Armed Forces with disabilities. The award supports a range of eligible activities including instruction, participation, and competition in adaptive sports; training and technical assistance for coaches and program administrators; athlete assessment and Paralympic classification; sport-specific training; and provision of equipment and supplies.

The Chicago Park District brings substantial expertise to this award, having previously received over $1.1 million in recurring funding from the VA since 2021 for similar adaptive sports initiatives, including the Valor Games Midwest and Windy City Winter Sports Clinic. The current funding will expand the organization's capacity to deliver specialized adaptive sports programming tailored to the veteran population served through the Chicago Park District's established infrastructure and demonstrated track record in managing large-scale adaptive sports programs.
