DEL norte indian early literacy program

The Department of Education Office of Elementary and Secondary Education awarded $1,066,166 to Del Norte County Office of Education on October 1, 2025, to support the Del Norte Indian Early Literacy Program under CFDA 84.299 (Indian Education -- Special Programs for Indian Children). The award funds early literacy services and youth community projects designed to improve educational outcomes for Native American students. Del Norte County Office of Education, a school district serving the Crescent City, California area, will perform the work through September 30, 2027. The program operates under the Demonstration Grants for Indian Children and Youth (CFDA 84.299A) component of the Indian Education program, which supports competitive awards for activities benefiting Native American children and youth. Grants under this authority are made for an initial period of not more than three years and may be renewed for up to an additional two years if the Department determines the grantee has made substantial progress in carrying out the funded activities.
