The Department of Education Office of Elementary and Secondary Education awarded San Antonio Independent School District $103,534 under the Impact Aid Program, Title VII, Section 7003, effective October 1, 2025 through September 30, 2031.
The award funds comprehensive K-12 educational services for federally connected students residing on federal property or with parents employed on federal property or on active duty in the uniformed services. San Antonio ISD serves approximately 46,000 students, and the award addresses the reduced local tax base resulting from federal presence across the district.
The Impact Aid Program provides financial assistance to school districts affected by federal activities by replacing lost local revenue from property tax exemptions on federally acquired real property. Under Section 7003, eligible districts enroll at least three percent or 400 federally connected children in average daily attendance whose families live on federal property, work on federal property, or include active-duty uniformed service members. Payments are computed on a statutory formula basis and made annually to eligible local educational agencies.
