The funded project will develop a novel single-cell (phospho-)proteomics platform designed to characterize tumor microenvironment (TME) components—including cancer cells, immune cells, and stromal...
- This $399,499 Project Grant award from the National Cancer Institute (NCI), under the Cancer Detection and Diagnosis Research program (CFDA 93.394), supports the development of Liquid Biotech's TELOMESCAN circulating tumor cell (CTC) assay for monitoring non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) patients undergoing radiation and immunotherapy. The key products and services to be delivered through this funding include: 1) Developing a clinical prototype of the TELOMESCAN assay with automated analysis to...
- Federal Grant Award Summary Xgenomes Corp. received a $399,816 Project Grant from the National Cancer Institute under the Cancer Detection and Diagnosis Research Program (CFDA 93.394) beginning September 1, 2025, with completion scheduled for August 31, 2026. The company is developing a novel circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) analysis platform that directly measures both genetic mutations and DNA methylation changes with accuracy approximately 100 times greater than current next-generation...
- Pumpkinseed Technologies Inc. received a $353,204 Phase I Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) Project Grant award from the National Cancer Institute under the Cancer Biology Research program (CFDA 93.396) on June 19, 2025, with completion targeted for April 30, 2026. The award funds development and proof-of-concept demonstration of Cell-MAPP (Cell Monitoring Against Presented Peptides), a novel technology that enables dynamic, real-time monitoring of individual T cell states during antigen...
- New York University School of Medicine received a $703,227 Project Grant from the National Cancer Institute under the Cancer Detection and Diagnosis Research program (CFDA 93.394) awarded June 1, 2026, with a completion date of May 31, 2031. The grant supports development of an ultra-rapid droplet digital polymerase chain reaction (ddPCR) technology platform designed to deliver molecular-genetic profiling of cancer-driving mutations directly within the operating room during surgical resection...
- Federal Grant Award Summary The National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS) awarded Translational Genomics Research Institute (TGen) a $305,960 Project Grant (CFDA 93.853: Extramural Research Programs in the Neurosciences and Neurological Disorders) effective April 15, 2026, through March 31, 2028. Under this award, TGen will deliver spatial transcriptomics analysis and computational modeling services to map the molecular characteristics and dissemination patterns of glioma...
- FIND-SEQ Cell Sorting Technology Development and Commercialization The National Institute on Aging awarded Vivid Bioinnovations, PBC (operating as Fluid Discovery, Inc.) a $613,742 Project Grant under the Aging Research program (CFDA 93.866) on September 12, 2025, with a completion date of February 28, 2027. This Fast-Track Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) award supports the translation and commercial development of FIND-SEQ, a novel cell sorting technology that enables isolation of...
- This $255,991 National Science Foundation project grant supports the development of an automated system for rapid analysis of biopsy samples by Amcyt, Inc. The system aims to increase the efficiency and accessibility of fine needle aspiration biopsy procedures through three automated processes: sample smearing, staining, and image capture. This addresses a critical need to improve biopsy analytics and potentially eliminate up to 20% of failed procedures due to sampling errors. By automating...
SPATIAL GENOMICS ANALYSIS OF TUMOR SAMPLES - SUMMARY IMAGING THE TUMOR MICROENVIRONMENT (TME) IS KEY TO UNDERSTANDING TUMOR GROWTH, DISEASE PROGRESSION AND THERAPY OPTIONS. THE TME OFTEN CONSISTS OF A COMPLEX NEIGHBORHOOD OF DIVERSE POPULATIONS OF IMMUNE CELLS, FIBROBLASTS, AND TUMORS CELLS. LITTLE IS KNOWN ABOUT THE "GEOGRAPHY" OF THE TUMORS AND THE SPATIAL ORGANIZATION OF THE DISTINCT CELL TYPES. THE ABILITY TO RAPIDLY IDENTIFY DIFFERENT CELL TYPES AND TUMOR SUBTYPES USING MOLECULAR MARKERS WILL BE TRANSFORMATIVE FOR CANCER DIAGNOSTICS. AT SPATIAL GENOMICS, WE ARE COMMERCIALIZING TECHNOLOGY THAT ALLOWS TRANSCRIPT PROFILING IN TUMOR SAMPLES. WITH THIS TECHNOLOGY, CELL TYPES IN SITU AND SPATIAL ORGANIZATIONS CAN BE DIRECTLY IDENTIFIED AND VISUALIZED IN TUMOR TISSUE SLICES. THESE CAPABILITIES PROVIDE A POWERFUL TOOL FOR EXAMINING THE DIFFERENT CELL TYPES AND THEIR INTERACTIONS IN THE TUMOR MICROENVIRONMENT. IN THIS PROPOSAL, WE WILL DEVELOP THE REAGENTS, INSTRUMENTATION, AND THE ASSOCIATED SOFTWARE THAT WILL ALLOW RESEARCHERS TO PERFORM SPATIAL MAPPING EXPERIMENTS IN TUMOR SLICES.
