The National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (NIAAA) awarded a $481,428 Project Grant (93.273 - Alcohol Research Programs) to the Moses-Weitzman Health System, Inc. to improve the capacity of primary care providers to apply best practices in preventing, screening, and treating alcohol use disorders (AUD) and polysubstance use disorders. The 4-year project will develop, implement, and evaluate three virtual continuing education strategies:

  1. Two 16-session Project ECHO AUD cohorts
  2. Twelve 1-hour "Science to Practice" virtual journal club sessions
  3. Nine on-demand eLearning modules

The project aims to educate 670 providers and increase their knowledge, skills, attitudes, and self-efficacy in addressing AUD and polysubstance use in primary care settings. An advisory council of multidisciplinary leaders, clinicians, and individuals with lived experience will inform the project to translate the latest research into practice.
