Description
Vascular biologists have a growing appreciation for variation in vessel structure and function in different organs, across developmental stages, and in different disease contexts, leading to a deeper understanding of how this variation can impact therapeutic strategies for a wide range of pathologies. Two important factors that contribute to vascular heterogeneity are (1) the genetic patterning of developing vessels, and (2) the surrounding environment in which vessels grow and remodel. Vascular biology 2025 (VB2025), organized by the north american vascular biology organization (navbo), will provide a forum for in-depth exploration of these factors by covering the themes of (1) vascular development and homeostasis, (2) vascular matrix biology and bioengineering, (3) inflammation, and (4) microcirculation. Regarding the latter theme, the microcirculatory society (MCS) will be a guest society at this meeting. MCS members bring classical expertise in microcirculatory physiology and function, complementing the molecular, genetic, and bioengineering expertise of navbo members, to mutual benefit. VB2025 will be an international meeting that draws researchers from academia, industry, and government and incorporates both trainees and established scientists. The meeting will be held at the hyport conference center, from october 19-23, 2025. The roster of organizers and invited speakers features junior faculty as well as established investigators. In addition, many speakers will be selected from abstract submissions, giving trainees and junior faculty additional opportunities to present their research. The meeting will include 14 concurrent sessions and seven plenary sessions. The plenary sessions, mechanosensing and mechanotransduction in the vasculature, genetics in vascular inflammation, and genetic drivers of vascular malformations, plus the keynote, navbo and MCS award lectures, will bring together all meeting participants in one room. Additional opportunities for formal and informal interactions will occur at poster sessions, group meals, nano-talks, and a reception on opening night. In SUM, VB2025 will foster exciting opportunities for vascular biologists from multiple career stages and scientific perspectives to develop interdisciplinary collaborations that will synergistically enhance our understanding of vascular development, heterogeneity, and therapeutic potential, thereby promoting the nhlbi's mission to prevent and treat cardiovascular disease.
