Description
- Abstract
- The goal of this faseb meeting "chromatin and epigenetics in aging and disease" is to bring a community of researchers together to advance our collective understanding of epigenetic mechanisms of aging and age- associated diseases using innovative approaches. Epigenetics and transcriptional changes are major hallmarks of aging and age-associated diseases such as cancer. Recent advances in our understanding of the underlying mechanisms have revealed strategies to improve cellular homeostasis, repair damage, and develop therapeutic targets for disease. We will discuss fundamental mechanisms of transcriptional and epigenetic regulation, new technologies in this area, and novel therapeutic strategies to target age-related diseases. In the 2026 meeting, we will introduce new sessions on single-cell biology, SEX chromosome changes, and stem cells. This faseb meeting will be unique in integrating the latest discoveries in epigenetics and their importance in aging as well as novel therapeutic strategies to combat aging and age-related diseases. As epigenetic targets are rapidly being identified against aging and disease, and technologies incorporating machine learning are accelerating discoveries in epigenomics, there is a crucial need for such a meeting that gathers scientists at the forefront of these areas to discuss interdisciplinary approaches to address key questions in the field. Additionally, technological challenges and questions about the role of epigenetics in aging and age-related diseases remain, and IT is essential that investigators in the chromatin and transcription fields gain a deeper understanding of the implications of their work for health and disease. This conference will foster interactions between investigators addressing basic mechanistic questions, developing new methodologies, and therapeutic approaches. The event will provide a uniquely interactive and inclusive environment through short talks, poster teasers, keynote talks, networking opportunities, and meet-the- expert events. To support the generation of scientists, the conference also includes a full day trainee pre-meeting known as the ignite-forum. This event is dedicated to career-development and networking for trainees and new investigators. This is an opportunity for young investigators to obtain feedback on their work, establish a professional network, and identify opportunities for collaboration.
