The New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Foundation received a $179,568 Project Grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities under the Promotion of the Humanities Division of Preservation and Access program to digitize, catalog, and provide public access to over 800 archival audio and video recordings related to Louisiana's musical and cultural heritage. The Foundation, a non-profit organization that promotes and preserves Louisiana's music and culture through activities such as presenting the annual New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival, will use the NEH grant funding awarded September 1, 2023 through June 30, 2026 to digitize and make discoverable and usable two collections totaling more than 800 tapes held in its archive - the Heritage Stages Collection and the Amy Nesbitt Collection. This project supports the NEH Preservation and Access program's goal of ensuring long-term availability of humanities resources by facilitating preservation of and intellectual access to archival materials.
