The National Endowment for the Humanities awarded The University Corporation $284,235 on November 1, 2026, under the Promotion of the Humanities Division of Preservation and Access program (CFDA 45.149) to process and digitize the legislative papers of three prominent figures in post-war Los Angeles politics: James Corman, a Democratic U.S. House member representing the 21st and 22nd Congressional Districts from 1961 to 1981; Roberta Fiedler, the Republican who unseated him in 1981 and served through 1987; and Edward M. Davis, a Republican state senator from 1981 to 1993 and retired Los Angeles Police Department chief. The University Corporation, the research administration entity for California State University, Northridge, will make the collections discoverable through websites, research portals, and digital repositories. The collections total 400 linear feet and comprise documents, photographs, sound recordings, and related materials. The project will conclude with a public celebratory event designed to increase accessibility and transparency to the American system of government. Performance occurs in California with a completion date of October 31, 2028.
