Description
Following the tragic shooting of two individuals outside the museum on may 21, 2025, the museum must now further enhance its security, significantly increasing those costs. On-site security personnel is, by far, the largest expense and to which this grant will be applied. The museum will contract a temporary senior-level professional for a few weeks before making a more permanent hire. This professional will manage and coordinate the guard force and relationships with MPD and FBI. We will also hire a new contracted security firm and add additional guards to our daily security. By doing so, we anticipate security costs to double. IT is with these enhancements that we can ensure our staff, collection, and visitors are and feel safe, so that we can bring jewish history, art, language, and religion to all who visit our institution.]
