Description
The chesapeake gateways tourism and economic development grants identify, conserve, restore, and interpret natural, recreational, historical, and cultural resources within the chesapeake BAY watershed and identify and utilize the collective resources as chesapeake BAY gateways sites for enhancing public education of and access to the chesapeake BAY consistent with the chesapeake BAY initiative act of 1998 (PUB. L. 105-312, title v, SEC.502(a)). Patapsco heritage greenway will host a series of seasonal public events in FY2026 to promote tourism and outdoor recreation across the patapsco valley. These events will showcase the regions history, nature, arts, and outdoor recreation while orienting visitors to the patapsco valley heritage area and its role within the chesapeake watershed. In the patapsco valley heritage area, partners work together to promote, interpret and preserve heritage tourism assets. By attracting new audiences, the project will support both economic growth and an exploration of the history of the surrounding communities.
