The State Historical Society, doing business as the Wisconsin Historical Society, received a $729,154 federal Project Grant under the National Park Service's Save America's Treasures program (CFDA 15.929) to preserve and restore the Baggage Horse Barn, one of nine historic buildings in the Ringling Brothers Circus Winter Quarters National Historic Landmark District in Baraboo, Wisconsin. The grant funds will address critical structural issues, repair masonry, windows, siding, and doors, and enable the barn to be reopened for public programming and interpretive purposes related to the historic circus operations. The total project budget is $1,458,740, with the Wisconsin Historical Society providing $729,586 in cost-share matching funds. The project is expected to be completed by September 30, 2027.
