15.926: P23AS00120 (FY2023 american battlefield protection program - preservation planning grants): the preservation planning grants opportunity provides federal financial assistance to state, local and tribal governments, other public entities, educational institutions, and private nonprofit organizations to identify, evaluate, interpret, and protect historic battlefields and sites associated with armed conflicts on american soil through non-acquisition projects and activities. The fort ticonderoga association S project, titled uncovering liberty hill: an american soldiers camp at ticonderoga, will locate and evaluate the integrity of soldiers huts dating from the american revolutionary war on liberty hill, and use that information to create a comprehensive archeological record of the site during its years of active service (may 1775 july 1777), to help inform future interpretation efforts and stewardship of the site.
