The National Park Service awarded a $1.45 million Save America's Treasures Project Grant to the California Missions Foundation to rehabilitate the Church at Mission Santa Ines in Santa Barbara, California. The grant will fund critical structural reinforcement of the adobe walls, repair of historic interior wood ceiling beams, and re-coating of exterior rendering. Matching funds of $1.55 million will also be provided by the Foundation. Work is scheduled to take place between October 1, 2022 and September 30, 2025 to strengthen and preserve the 200-year old Franciscan mission church, considered an excellent example of mission architectural expression. The Save America's Treasures program aims to support preservation and conservation of nationally significant intellectual and cultural artifacts as well as historic structures through competitive matching grants.
