The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, through the Rural Health Research Centers program (CFDA 93.155), awarded a $2,250,000 Project Grant to Corry Memorial Hospital Association to establish a rural track program in psychiatry. The program aims to address critical shortages of healthcare providers, particularly psychiatrists, in rural communities in northwestern Pennsylvania and western New York. Key objectives include: 1) Developing and accrediting the rural track program in psychiatry by July 2027, 2) Ensuring the program's long-term sustainability, and 3) Recruiting, retaining, and tracking outcomes for program graduates for at least 5 years. The program will leverage the resources and expertise of Corry Memorial Hospital and the Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine to provide comprehensive clinical training and telehealth capabilities, with the goal of improving access to psychiatric care in underserved rural areas.
