Stephen F. Austin State University received a $272,364 Project Grant award from the U.S. Department of Education's Office of Postsecondary Education under the TRIO Student Support Services program (CFDA 84.042), effective September 25, 2025, through September 24, 2026. The award supports the delivery of comprehensive student support services designed to enhance retention and graduation rates for disadvantaged college populations, including low-income students, first-generation college students, students with disabilities, and limited English-proficient students.
The SSS program at SFASU provides on-campus tutoring, academic advising, career counseling, financial aid assistance, and educational workshops that increase student success and facilitate transfer pathways from two-year to four-year institutions. The program fosters an institutional climate supporting underrepresented populations and enhances students' financial and economic literacy. As a standard TRIO SSS award operating within the five-year grant cycle framework, this funding enables SFASU to serve an estimated 100-300 students annually while advancing the Department of Education's objective of increasing postsecondary completion rates among disadvantaged student populations.
